Becomes more powerful while its bearer is armored.
The engineers behind this gun originally tried to devise a system to see if any specific bullet would hit its target, but the math was so unintuitive that they gave up entirely. A few no longer speak to each other!

Notes

  • If all armor is lost while AC-15 is in its armored form, it plays a short breaking animation when returning to its original form.
  • The Robot will always have the armored form due to The Robot having armor instead of hearts.
  • PBug.png Possible Bug When obtaining the AC-15 from a chest without Armor.png Armor, it will briefly appear upgraded before quickly reverting to un-armored form.
  • This gun is a reference to the Armor Class, or AC system in Dungeons & Dragons, used to assess a character's defensive capabilities. In Dungeons & Dragons, wearing armour increases a character's AC, making them harder to hurt.
    • The unintuitive system mentioned in this gun's Ammonomicon entry is a reference to THAC0 (short for To Hit Armor Class 0) system used in Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition. THAC0 provided die-rolling tables to determine if an attack would hit a target, with the requirement to hit increasing depending on a target's AC value. This system was complex and confusing, and as such was discontinued in later editions.
    • The unused UnusedSynergy.png Constitution Check synergy is also a reference to Dungeons & Dragons, where Constitution is one of the core six ability scores. Rolling a 'Constitution Check' is necessary to determine a character's fortitude, stamina, and resilience.
  • The Synergy.png Armored Corps - synergy may be a reference to the mecha-shooter series Armored Core.
  • The entry for the AC-15 in the Physical Ammonomicon has a small doodle of a figure hunched behind a Dungeon Master's Screen, a folded board used by Dungeon Masters to conceal sensitive information from players in Dungeons & Dragons. This screen appears to have a Bullet Kin and the High Dragun printed on it.
    • Furthermore, this entry is actually misprinted, using the pickup quote "Metalled Gear" instead of the appropriate Armor Class Non-Zero.
