Enter the Gungeon 3D Blast is a minigame version of Enter the Gungeon that is playable within the game STRAFE (The origin of the Strafe Gun.png Strafe Gun). It was developed in part by Dodge Roll,[1] the developers of Enter the Gungeon, as part of a collaboration with Pixel Titans.

It is accessed by discovering a game cartridge for 'Enter the Gungeon 3D Blast' (stylized as an SNES game) in the third area of STRAFE, stage 3-1 of The Burbs. Carrying this cartridge to stage 3-3 of The Burbs allows the player to access Enter the Gungeon 3D Blast.

Gameplay

The top-down perspective of Enter the Gungeon 3D Blast

Enter the Gungeon 3D Blast uses a unique over-the-shoulder perspective, enabled by Enter the Gungeons subtly 3D level construction behind the scenes. The player plays as The Marine, using what seems to be the Blooper.png Blooper to fight their way through several rooms full of Gundead. Enemy bullets move slowly, but are made more difficult to dodge by the lack of a top-down perspective.

The player can Dodge Roll, and has three hearts of health. No pickups drop, and no items can be obtained. No new guns can be obtained, save for the Vulcan Cannon.png Vulcan Cannon, which appears on its own in the penultimate room of the minigame and replaces the Blooper entirely.

The final room of the mini-game is a wide open hall with a crowd of bullet kin at one end. The player must dodge the onslaught of their gunfire while mowing them down with their collected Vulcan Cannon. After the last Bullet Kin is slain, the game fades to a victory screen, and the minigame ends.

The following enemies make an appearance;

Notes

  • While the Magnum.png Magnum, AK-47.png AK-47, Regular Shotgun.png Regular Shotgun, and Winchester.png Winchester cannot be used in Enter the Gungeon 3D Blast, they still make an appearance in the hands of enemies.
  • Enter the Gungeon 3D Blast uses almost exactly the same code as Enter the Gungeon for its gameplay, just within the game of STRAFE.[1]
  • The form of The Gungeon that appears on the title and win screens of 3D Blast is a pyramid topped with a skull. This design of the structure was used in pre-alpha versions of Enter the Gungeon, but was changed before release. The assets of the Gungeon used in the title screen of 3D Blast are directly taken from one of the pre-release title screens of Enter the Gungeon.
  • The music track used for Enter the Gungeon 3D Blast is Deep Dark Dungeon, the prototype level music for Enter the Gungeon during early development, composed by Erica Hampson.
