High Kaliber is a gun that appears in Enter the Gungeon.
Effects
- Consumes 6 ammo per shot, effectively having an ammo capacity of 111.
- Fires bullets that can pierce once.
- On non-fatally piercing through an enemy, that enemy is marked and the projectiles is converted into a spinning 'soul', continuing along its initial trajectory.
- These 'soul' projectiles do not hit enemies, and will be harmlessly destroyed upon impacting a wall or reaching the end of their range. They will also be destroyed by
Blanks, as if they were enemy projectiles.
- If a player touches this soul, it will be destroyed, and will deal a huge amount of damage to the enemy to which the soul belongs, as well as dealing 5 damage to all other marked enemies in the room.
- Non-boss enemies always take damage equal to their maximum health, instantly killing them in most cases.
- Boss enemies are always dealt 55 damage, bypassing the boss DPS cap.
- These 'soul' projectiles do not hit enemies, and will be harmlessly destroyed upon impacting a wall or reaching the end of their range. They will also be destroyed by
- Deals quadruple damage when fired while the player is
Stealthed.
Synergies ETG
Kailber k'pow uboom k'bhang - If the player also has Holey Grail, Cursed Bullets, or Yellow Chamber, the split soul initially moves towards the player instead of away.
Item Interactions
Many bullet effects applied to the initial projectiles carry over onto their rended soul form. This includes projectile colour changes, such as the red tint from Hot Lead persisting over to the soul.
Scattershot /
Helix Bullets /
Backup Gun /
Double Vision /
Table Tech Sight - Each projectile that hits an enemy will spawn its own soul. The damage dealt by collecting souls is not affected by the players damage stat, meaning that Scattershot and Helix Bullets do not negatively affect it.
Remote Bullets - Rended souls will sluggishly follow the players crosshair/aim direction for a time.
Bouncy Bullets - Unspent bounces persist over to the rended soul, allowing it to ricochet up to two times.
Ring of Ethereal Form - Rended souls cannot be stepped on while the player is in ethereal form.
Orbital Bullets - Initial projectiles cannot rend souls while orbiting the player. Souls that hit walls while the enemy they belong to is alive will not orbit the player. Souls that hit walls after the enemy they belong to has been killed will orbit the player, however as they cannot hit enemies this is largely irrelevant.
Fat Bullets - Rended souls are larger in size, making them easier to step on.
Possible Bug
Helix Bullets - After converting into soul form, the souls will fly towards the player and stop in front of them, before continuing their initial trajectory. This makes the souls extremely easy to step on.
Notes
- Souls cannot be stepped on during the player's I-frames after taking damage.
- Stepping on a bosses soul can damage them even while they are in normally un-damageable states;
- While Blobulord is split into smaller Blobulon-shaped bullets.
- While The Gorgun is underwater.
- While The Mine Flayer is concealed as a Bell.
- While Cannonbalrog is hidden in the black smoke.
- While The High Priest is performing his dark room attack.
- Both players in co-op mode can step on souls, regardless of which player holds the High Kaliber. The ghosts of dead co-op players can also step on rended souls.
- When fighting the Ammoconda, souls only appear when shooting the head of the snake.
- The stepping on rended souls can kill normally invulnerable enemies like the Gunreaper or Lead Cube.
- The synergy
Kailber k'pow uboom k'bhang is most likely a reference to the famous quote "ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn" of the H.P Lovecraft story Call of Cthulhu.
- This gun is most likely a dual reference to both Soulcalibur, a fighting game series featuring a demonic blade that turns its host into a nightmarish abomination similar to what the Entry physically describes the gun as, and Soul Reaver, a spinoff game from the Legacy of Kain series starring an undead vampire that consumes the souls of his slain foes.
- The damage done by stepping on enemies souls is known internally as 'Soul Burn'[1].
- The maximum ammo of the High Kaliber is a reference to the biblical Number of the beast (666).
