Brought to the Gungeon by the warlike Blobulonians, its suppressive fire helped King Visc Osbro III win back the province of Goopscone from the rebel forces led by his brother, Gel Osbro. |
The Membrane is a gun that appears in Enter the Gungeon, Exit the Gungeon, and Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead.
Behaviour
The Membrane fires a shotgun blast of six green projectiles.
- ETG These projectiles bounce, and each split into two more bouncing projectiles which deal slightly less damage.
- HoTG These projectiles have a chance to poison enemies.
Synergies ETG
Absent Minded - If the player also has Bouncy Bullets, The Membrane's shots bounce 4 times and become homing.
- This synergy does not work with Lich's Eye Bullets.
Unused and Cut Content
- The Membrane appears to have been built off of the pre-alpha weapon
Lt. Green's Rifle, largely overwriting it. This included overwriting many of the remaining sprites of the rifle.
- The Membrane's sprites are still called
squad_green
in the assets of Enter the Gungeon. - It is unclear why Lt. Green's Rifle was chosen for this, as The Membrane does not seem to function in any way that could be described as a rifle.

Notes
- The
Absent Minded synergy is a reference to the movie The Absent-Minded Professor, which features an extremely bouncy material known as Flubber. It is also possibly a reference to the television show Invader Zim, which has a character named Professor Membrane.
- Due to its overpenetration, high range, and high projectile count, the Membrane works extremely well with
Flak Bullets and
Scattershot.
- This works even better with the synergy due to homing.
- The Membrane is a part of the SHOTGUN gun class, and as such benefits from the
Shotgun Affinity synergy.
- The bullets after the split will not be connected by
Shock Rounds.
- The Membrane's split shots will immediately hit the Ammoconda once the main shots hit it, allowing the player to do great amounts of damage.
