Union Mimic

The Union Mimic, also known as the Mystery Mimic Man and Gungeon Mimic Union Representative is a minor NPC that appears in Enter the Gungeon. They appear to be a green chest mimic with googly eyes.

Function

The Union Mimic only appears in the reward room after the Resourceful Rat bossfight if the player has the Mimic Tooth Necklace. They offer an apology on behalf of the Gungeon Mimic Union for being unable to replace all the Rat Chests in the room with mimics.

(Interacting) Hey, I know we kind of had a deal goin', but... ...honestly, there's just too many chests in here. Gungeon Mimic Union's spread a bit too thin at the moment. Lot of irons in the fire. And frankly, the chests in here just aren't up to code. Can't deal with ‘em.
(Interacting again) Who built these things? Everyone knows Gungeon chests use metric. Gotta charge a different rate for these chests anyway. Oversize units.
(Interacting for a third time onwards) You got a problem?

Notes

• The Union Mimic is the only NPC character exclusive to the Resourceful Rat's Lair.
• Despite appearing like a chest mimic, the Union Mimic cannot be broken or angered.
• The Union Mimic does not have the a projectile repulsion aura of other NPCS. They do not, however, react in any way to being shot.
• Because the Mimic Tooth Necklace prevents Rat Chests from being mimics, and the Union Mimic only appears if the player has the necklace, Rat Chest Mimics will never appear in the same room as the Union Mimic.
• The Union Mimic is abnormal in that instead of having his own sprite collection or a shared collection with other NPCs, his assets are packaged into the chest sprite collection.
  • This is why the Union Mimic can sometimes be seen in the flickering garbled sprites of a Glitched Chest, as the glitch shader functions based off sprite collection.
