Talk:Casey

Should the community's opinion of Casey be included in the article? I would like to get a consensus/moderator vote before it is removed to avoid a back-and-forth edit war. I personally do not think that it should because it is not relevant to the game, the community is not a part of the game. And if we were to allow it for this page, we would have to allow community opinions for all other pages.

I did a search for "community" and apparently Rainbow mode is "inspired by the community". While I agree that community opinion isn't directly relevant to the game, the developers do seem to listen to feedback (of any volume) and community concepts can indirectly affect the game. Just to chip in here, since I (--CHAOS FANTAZY (talk) 02:59, 10 May 2019 (UTC)) was the one who recently edited Casey's page to discuss the community's polarized opinions on it: my intent in doing so was to use the community's polarized opinions of the weapon as a springboard to touch upon its strengths and weaknesses, which I think is worth discussing on the Wiki. It would help fledgling players better understand how to use Casey. I don't think of it as any different from how each Gungeoneer has a section dedicated to strategies with them. And while you could argue that no other gun discusses strengths/weaknesses or strategies to the same degree as what I was attempting to do, I think part of that stems from how different Casey is from other weapons in Enter the Gungeon—and the wall dedicated to discussing Blasphemy's interactions with several different enemies fulfills a similar purpose, anyhow.

I don't think anyone disapproves of tips and strategies, but talking about the community and (subjective) opinions isn't necessary to do that. If it gets added to Casey, it'll get added to other pages, and those people will then point at the Casey article saying it's okay because it's in that article. You mention Blasphemy, so imagine people adding sections saying how "Many in the community think Blasphemy is a super easy weapon and takes zero skill", then others will add "Many others think Blasphemy is great risk vs reward", regardless of if it's true or not, it all just ends up to people posting subjective opinions under a thin veil of "talking about community opinion". You simply don't want that on a wiki. If you want to add some neutral sounding tips and strategies to the Casey article without mentioning what the community thinks, go ahead though.
