Ammo Synthesizer is a passive item that appears in Enter the Gungeon.
Effects
- Adds a 10% chance to regain 5% of the currently held gun's maximum ammo (rounded down) upon killing an enemy.
Synergies ETG
Extreme Operation - If the player also has Melted Rock, Melted Rock causes each corpse to fire a bullet at a nearby enemy in addition to exploding.
Synthetic Shield - If the player also has Heart Synthesizer or Armor Synthesizer, grants a familiar that orbits the player and blocks shots. If all three synthesizers are picked up, grants three familiars.
- The familiar follows the player with almost no delay and represents the synthesizer the player does not currently have (i.e. if the player has Ammo Synthesizer and Heart Synthesizer, it will appear to be a piece of Armor).
Unused and Cut Content
- Internally, the Ammo Synthesizer is called Tweezers in multiple different locations including the name of its Unity gameObject and its entry in the string table database.
- An item called Tweezers can be seen in pre-alpha footage of Enter the Gungeon.[1] This is likely an early form of the Ammo Synthesizer.
- Tweezers may be a reference to the trope of using Tweezers to extract bullets from bullet wounds- either from a living subject, or as the function of Ammo Synthesizer suggests, from a corpse.
- The Ammo Synthesizer also bears the internal name Bullet Bait, suggesting another iteration of the idea at some point in development with yet another different name.
Notes
- If 5% of a gun's maximum ammo is less than 1 (less than 20 maximum ammo), Ammo Synthesizer will restore 1 ammo when it activates.
- Works well with Ancient Hero's Bandana as it will restore 4x more ammo effectively making it easier to not run out.
- Works well with Makeshift Cannon if it activates.
- If duplicates of this item are somehow obtained, each synthesizer has its own independent chance to trigger, increasing the frequency of ammo regeneration.
