The Best Offense
Gats are mechanized sentries, built by some savvy adventurer in years past.

Today, they have been completely integrated into Gundead society and do not remember their former masters.

Gats are enemies in Enter the Gungeon which slowly bounce around the room diagonally and deflect bullets. They will occasionally open up to shoot three random spreads of 4 bullets at the player, during which time they are vulnerable.

Notes

  • Gats are flying enemies, and are therefore immune to pits and most floor hazards.
  • Bullets deflected by a Gat while it is closed can still hit enemies, but cannot hit the player.
  • Gats are immune to radial/full room damage effects while closed, including the Bracket Key, Gungeon Pepper, and Camera.
  • Bullet with homing effects will still target Gat even while they are in an invulnerable state.
  • Gats are unaffected by bullet effects on deflected bullets, such as poison or transmogrification.

Trivia

  • Gats have an unused development design in which they appear much smaller and more spherical. Perhaps as an oversight, the Ammomomicon icon for the Gat uses a sprite from this development design instead of the sprites the enemy uses in the release version.
    • This unused Gat design has animations for falling into pits, which suggests that at one point during development Gats were unable to fly.
  • The sprites for the Gat are labelled as Met.[1]
    • The updated Gat design sprites are labelled as newmet.
  • The design of the Gat is a reference to Tellys from the Megaman series.

Gallery

The eyes of a Gat have an emissive shader, causing them to appear to glow in a way which is not present in the raw assets.
