Beadies are enemies that appear in Enter the Gungeon and Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead.
Behaviour
Beadies advance steadily towards the player, firing bullets in their direction. They will explode when killed, although the explosion radius is quite small and generally not very dangerous.
While not a behaviour of the Beadies themselves, Beadies are periodically spawned by the Beholster during its bossfight.
If the Beholster is killed, all Beadies in the current chamber will put away their guns and begin to weep. Crying Beadies will not target the player or shoot at them, but will still deal contact damage and explode upon death. This weeping extends to Beadies outside of the Boss room. If the Beholster is slain before those rooms are entered, the Beadies inside will already be in mourning.
Other Appearances
- The last bullet in the
Eye of the Beholsters magazine looks like a friendly Beadie, and will fire at enemies on the players behalf.
Cut Content
- In pre-release versions of Enter the Gungeon, bullets fired by Beadies were sligtly smaller and resembled eyeballs. These eyeball bullets had a blinking animation. Additionally, this version of the Beadie held a different, unidentified gun, and appeared to have different movement behaviours, hanging back and targeting the player from a distance.[2]
Fixed Bug In these versions, if the player was killed by a Beadie, the Ammonomicon would say that they were killed by a Cubulon.[3]
Notes
- Beadies wield the
Trank Gun. - While Beadies primarily appear during the Beholster bossfight, they are pre-placed in some room layouts and Challenge Shrine waves in the Gungeon Proper and Oubliette. Additionally, in the Gungeon Proper there is a random chance for an enemy in a random room to be replaced by two Beadies.
- Like the Beholster, Beadies are a reference to the beholder from Dungeons and Dragons.
- If the challenge modifier
Final Attack is active, the ring of bullets fired upon the death of a Beadie will adopt the blinking appearance of its regular projectiles, but will not behave any differently.
