Trank Gun is a gun that appears in Enter the Gungeon.

Unused and Cut Content

  • The Trank Gun is commonly called the Baretta internally, in reference to the Beretta M9 handgun. The name was likely intentionally misspelled to avoid a trademark dispute with the Beretta family, who have owned Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta (the Beretta arms manufacturer) for over five hundred years.
    • The song ENTER THE GUNGEON on the Enter the Gungeon soundtrack makes reference to a Beretta in a list of guns. This likely indicates that the Trank Gun was in the game, and still called the Baretta (or Beretta) when the song was written.[1]
  • While the Trank Gun was only made player-usable in the A Farewell to Arms Update, it existed as an unobtainable weapon since the release version of Enter the Gungeon, used in the hands of various enemies. This version of the gun was called the M9, again in reference to the Beretta M9.
    • The Trank Gun is still called the M9 in various languages, including Simplified Chinese and Polish.

Notes

  • This gun is wielded by Beadies, Coalers, and the Beholster.
  • The Trank Gun is a reference to the Tranq Gun from the Metal Gear franchise, in particular a modified Beretta M9 used in Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
  • The synergy Synergy.png I need scissors! 61! is a reference to a nonsense line said by the corrupted Colonel Campbell AI during the final act of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
    • Additionally, the gun's appearance changes to look like the tranquilizer pistol from the Metal Gear Solid games.
