Grants anonymity, friendship.

Masks of this design were used to explore primitive Gungeon-like structures filled with money, now referred to as "Mungeons". Anonymity was important to Mungeoneers of this time. The friendly clown design is thought to have helped Mungeoneers make peace with the native inhabitants.

Clown Mask is a passive item that appears in Enter the Gungeon.

Effects

• Visually changes the players appearance to Dallas from the Payday franchise.
• Summons one of the following clown-masked companions;

Wolf		Attacks enemies close up with a taser, continuously stunning them.
Houston		Stands near the player to guard them, occasionally activating mini Blank effects that negate enemy bullets.
Chains		Chases down enemies and attacks them with a Winchester. Each shotgun pellet does 5 damage.

• Increases the likelihood of finding the Loot Bag or Drill.
• If the player carries the Loot Bag or Drill, an additional clown companion will be summoned for each.
• The order that the companions are acquired is random.

How to Unlock

Before it is unlocked, it has a 5% chance to replace an item in the shop or a 100% chance if the Biggest Wallet achievement has been unlocked, and costs 9999 .

It can be acquired in 2 ways:

• Stealing it from the shop
• Causing the shopkeeper to close his shop by either:
  • Firing a gun in the shop a few times
  • Failing to steal an item
  • Luring the Lord of the Jammed into the shop

After it has been unlocked, it will appear as a regular item.

Synergies ^ETG

• Tea for Two - If the player also has Teapot, when reloading Teapot, Wolf, Houston, and Chains will have a small red aura around them. Every enemy in this aura will be ignited.

Item Interactions

• Ammolets - Houston's mini-Blanks are affected by Ammolets.

• Wolf and Chains appear in promotional art for the Payday Update, illustrated by Max Grecke.

Notes

• Despite being a companion item, Clown Mask cannot be obtained from the Companion Shrine. This because the shrine searches for items with the CompanionItem code class, while the Clown Mask uses the class BankMaskItem.
• The Clown Mask and its companions are a reference to PAYDAY 2, and were added in a cross-promotional event.
  • In PAYDAY 2, this particular mask belongs to PAYDAY gang mastermind Dallas. The three different clown companions summoned by the mask are based on Wolf, Chains, and Houston/Hoxton, other members of the gang.
• The 'Dallas' player sprite does not have a proper timefall animation for tumbling through time during the end credits of Enter the Gungeon. As a result, the player character will default to a tumbling skeleton.
• ^CMV In the Chinese Mobile Version of Enter the Gungeon the USA flag on the Clown Mask and resulting player sprites is censored, changing the red stripes to blue ones. This includes the mouth of the mask.
• Bug Playstation 4 Occasionally, after traveling to the Marine's past, the player will be in a glitched state where they retain the appearance of Dallas and dodge rolling no longer provides invulnerability.
• Bug While on the Twitch launch system, buying clown mask has a chance for it to appear in the next shop.
• Bug Chain's shotgun bullets can be erased by the players Blanks.
