Characters

Once more into the Breach adds one new character, with more characters planned for future updates.

The Shade

The Shade is a challenging character with only one hit that he can take before dying. The Shade cannot collect further HP.

Thanks to his passive item, he starts with piercing shots, slower enemy bullets, flight, and complete immunity to all status effects including fire, poison, and electricity.

Item Synergies

The Shade has several synergies with certain items that would otherwise be useless for him. Not all items are included, but many are.

Item Special Effect
OMITB Full Armour Jacket.png
Full Armour Jacket
The Shade gains a permanent +5% damage upon picking up armour, instead of the usual 2.5%.
Omitb bloodshot eye.png

The Shade gains +2% damage increase upon picking up a half heart, and a +4% damage increase upon picking up a full heart.
Omitb viscerifle.png
Viscerifle
The Shade can fire the Viscerifle for free. Viscerifle has a special projectile for being fired this way.

Notes

  • The Shade gains a permanent +2.5% damage bonus for every piece of armour he picks up, even though this armour does not go into his health.
  • The Shade can still safely take and deposit the Old Crest to reach the Abbey of The True Gun.
  • The Shade cannot pick up hearts, but walking over them will destroy them and spawn Money.png.
    • The amounts are 3-6Money.png for a Half Heart, and 5-11Money.png for a Full Heart.

Shrines

Once More Into The Breach adds a multitude of new shrines that can appear in the Gungeon, each with their own unique costs and effects.

Appearance Name Effects
Omitb investment shrine.png
Investment Shrine Costs 10Money.png to use. Can be used multiple times, with each subsequent use costing 10Money.png more than before.

Each use reduces prices in future shops by 10%.

Omitb dagun shrine.png
Dagun Shrine Costs 1 Heart container (2 Armour as the Robot) to use. Spawns 5-10 random consumable pickups around the room.

Can be used multiple times.

Omitb relodin shrine.png
Relodin Shrine Costs nothing to use. Increases damage by 30%, but doubles bullet spread.
Omitb artemissile shrine.png
Artemissile Shrine Costs 1 Heart container (2 Armour as the Robot) to use. Spawns a random gun orbiting around the player when used, which will accompany them for the rest of the run.

This gun can be from any tier, although higher tier weapons are rarer. This gun fires in the direction the player is aiming when the player reloads, and costs nothing to fire.

+2.5 Curse upon use.

Omitb executioner shrine.png
Executioner Shrine Costs nothing to use. Has a 50/50 chance to either grant a full heal, or reduce the player to half a heart.

As the robot, has a 50/50 chance to either grant +4 Armour, or reduce the robot to 1 piece of armour.

Omitb kliklok shrine.png
Kliklok Shrine Costs 1 heart container (2 Armour as Robot) to use. Upgrades the tier of all unopened chests on the floor.

Can be used multiple times.

Omitb turtle shrine.png
Turtle Shrine Costs half a heart (1 Armour as Robot) to use. Gives 2 temporary bullet blocking turtle companions like the ones from Turtle Problem. These turtles can die, but have 3 times as much health as the turtles

from the item. The Robot gains 4 turtles per use instead of 2.

Has a 0.5% chance to give a Super Space Turtle on use. This chance is raised to 1% for the Robot.

Curses

Once More Into the Breach adds a system of cursed floors, in which a regular floor may be augmented by a difficult modifier.

Every level of Curse the player has increases the chance of encountering a 'cursed floor' by 6.66%. The Holey Water item will prevent cursed floors from appearing.

Icon Name Effect
File:OMITB CurseInfestation.png Curse of Infestation Killed enemies will create 0-3 random Bullats. The amount of Bullats spawned scales with enemy HP.

Killing charmed enemies will spawn friendly Bullats.

File:OMITB CurseSludge.png Curse of Sludge Killed enemies will leave puddles of poison goo. This poison goo cannot harm other enemies.
File:OMITB CurseHive.png Curse of The Hive Killed enemies will leave puddles of slowing honey. This honey WILL slow other enemies.
File:OMITB CurseFlames.png Curse of The Flames Multiple patches of fire will appear at random positions in the room upon entering combat. This fire cannot harm enemies.
File:OMITB CurseButterfingers.png Curse of Butterfingers Taking damage will cause the player's gun to be thrown in the direction they are aiming.
File:OMITB CurseDarkness.png Curse of Darkness The floor becomes shrouded in darkness, save for a small radius around the player and a cone of light in their view direction, like a flashlight.

This shadow obscures enemies and obstacles, but enemy bullets and other glowing things can still be seen through the darkness.

NPCs and Gamemodes

Gungeon NPCs

Appearance Method Effects
Omitb rusty.png
Rusty Appears at random in the Gungeon as a merchant, selling three poor quality items at a 50% discount. (The item pool is a manually created list of bad items, not simply items from the D Quality Item.png tier.
Omitb boomhildr.png
Boomhildr Appears at random in the Gungeon as a merchant, selling three random explosive themed items.
Omitb ironside.png
Ironside Appears at random in the Gungeon as a merchant, selling three random armour or defence themed items. Items in this shop cost Armour to purchase instead of Money.png.

Breach NPCs

Appearance Name Effects
Omitb jammomaster.png
The Jammomaster Allows the player to activate the new All-Jammed gamemode, making every single enemy and boss jammed and facilitating a plethora of new All-Jammed mode unlocks.

Notes

  • All-Jammed Mode does not actually increase the player's curse at all, so the player is free to take normal weapons as though it were a normal run, and there is no effect on chest fuse/mimic chance.
  • All-Jammed Mode will spawn an additional free ammo pickup every six rooms.

Unlocks

Once More Into the Breach adds a variety of item unlock methods, including new items in the Breach Shops and new Frifle and Mauser hunting quests.

Unlockable Method

Status Effects

Appearance Name Effects
Omitb lockdown appearance.png
Lockdown Locks the enemy in place completely, preventing them from moving.
Omitb plague appearance.png
Plague Deals 2 damage per second to enemies (roughly half that of poison) but afflicted enemies leave puddles of 'plague' goop where they walk which can, in turn, afflict other enemies, allowing plague to quickly spread through clusters of enemies.
Omitb shrink appearance.png
Shrink Shrunken enemies become 60% smaller, and slightly faster. If the player walks over the enemy or dodge rolls into the shrunken enemy, they will be instantly killed. Shrunken enemies cannot deal contact damage.

Cannot affect bosses.

Omitb exsanguination status.png
Exsanguination Deals 1.75 damage per second to afflicted enemies. Can be stacked multiple times on the same enemy. For each time the effect has been stacked, the target will take an additional 1.75 damage. There is no cap on how many times the effect can be stacked.
Omitb jarated status.png
Jarate'd Reduces afflicted enemy speed by 10% and additionally applies the Fear effect.

Reduces afflicted enemy max health by 33% unless they are a boss, in which case it is only reduced by 25%.

When inflicted with Jarate'd, enemies afflicted with burning will be extinguished, and Jammed enemies will be un-jammed.

Misc Additional Content and Changes

  • Secret Floor Mastery Rewards - Flawlessly beating the Oubliette or the Abbey now grants a reward! In the case of the Oubliette, the reward is randomly chosen out of the items Blobulon Rage, Gooey Heart, and Bloodglass Guon Stone, while the Abbey always drops the same reward; Exalted Heart.
  • Beam Item Compatibility - Certain items have been fixed to work with beam weapons where they did not in vanilla. Explosive Rounds and Blank Bullets have been given the ability to trigger an explosion/blank at the end of the beam respectively.

Commands

A variety of commands are added into the ModTheGungeon console by this mod, usually under the command prefix nn. The majority of commands are here for debug purposes, however.

Command Explanation
nn help
Lists all the commands in the mod.
nn togglealljammed
Toggles All-Jammed mode on and off.

Note that enabling All-Jammed mode in this way will not allow the player to get special All-Jammed mode unlocks, only activating the mode from the Jammomaster in the Breach allows unlocking.

nn checkunlocks
Prints a large checklist of all task-based unlocks in Once More Into The Breach (excluding items unlocked in shops). Shows progress on unlocks, and whether or not they have been completed already.
nn roomdata
Prints the name of the current room.
nn listinstalledmods
Prints a dialogue that shows what other mods OMITB thinks you have installed. Useful for debugging purposes.
nnchallenges
This is the only command that does not use the prefix nn , instead using nnchallenges. See the 'Challenges' section of this page for more info.
