This strange mechanism dispenses explosives when spun.
Roll Bomb is a passive item in Enter the Gungeon.
Effects
- Dodge rolling drops a bomb behind the player that explodes after a few moments, dealing 20 damage to all nearby enemies.
- If this bomb touches an enemy before it explodes, it will deal an additional 5 damage to that enemy on contact.
Synergies ETG
AI Assistant - If the player has iBomb Companion App, roll bombs will bounce around instead of detonating immediately, and can be manually detonated with the iBomb Companion App.
y cant u crawl - If the player is holding Heroine, roll bombs have larger explosions.
Item Interactions
Dropped bombs are affected by a number of different Bullet Modifiers, including but not limited to;
Battery Bullets - Dropped bombs will electrify water.
Blank Bullets - Dropped bombs have a chance to trigger a mini
Blank effect on detonating.
Fat Bullets /
Stout Bullets /
Heavy Bullets /
Chaos Bullets - Bullet size modifiers affect dropped bombs, making them larger. Does not affect the radius of the explosion.
Flak Bullets - Bombs create a number of small flak projectiles, launched roughly in the direction they are traveling upon exploding.
Hungry Bullets - Bombs have a chance to have the Hungry Bullets effect, being tinted purple and 'eating' enemy projectiles that pass near them.
Hot Lead /
Irradiated Lead /
Frost Bullets /
Chaos Bullets - Bombs have a chance to be assigned a status effect by these items. On exploding, the bomb will create a large pool of goop corresponding to the applied status effect.
Scattershot /
Table Tech Sight - Rolling will drop three bombs instead of one. In the case of Table Tech Sight, this only applies during the slowed time after flipping a table.
Helix Bullets - Rolling will drop two bombs instead of one. Instead of bouncing across the ground, bombs will travel in a short helical arc.
Double Vision - Rolling will drop two bombs instead of one while Double Vision is active.
Homing Bullets /
Crutch - Dropped bombs will bounce slightly towards enemies, but are limited by their extremely short range.
Remote Bullets - Dropped bombs will attempt to follow the players cursor/aim direction, but are again limited by their range.
Orbital Bullets - Dropped bombs that impact a wall or obstacle will orbit slowly around the player for 15 seconds.
Springheel Boots - Chaining dodge rolls allows the player to drop multiple bombs in quick succession.
Bloodied Scarf - Teleporting via the Bloodied Scarf drops a bomb at the position the player blinked away from.
Notes
- Dropped bombs do not damage the player, and do not anger Bello.
- Dropped bombs can reveal secret room entrances by cracking the walls, but will not break the secret wall down completely like other explosions.
Possible Bug While sliding over tables, pressing the roll button again will spawn another bomb.
- This item is a reference to the morph ball bombs upgrade in the Metroid series where Samus can turn into a ball, roll around, and drop bombs. This item's sprite is very similar the sprite used for the bomb item in Super Metroid.
- The
y cant u crawl synergy is a reference to an infamous miiverse post in the Super Metroid Miiverse community, where the user asked: "Y Can't Metroid Crawl".
- Prior to Supply Drop Beta 3, bombs dropped from Roll Bomb could blast open secret room walls. This was an intentional reference to Samus' bombs being capable of blasting open secret passageways in Metroid, but was ultimately removed as it incentivized the player to spend time rolling against every wall to optimise each floor.[1]
