Type: Pickup

Disambigsprite.png This article is about the consumable pickup. For the player stat, see Ammo Capacity Multiplier.

Ammo, also referred to as Ammo Boxes are important pickups in Enter the Gungeon. They also make an appearance in the Arsenal Mode of Exit the Gungeon, although their importance is diminished by the power of the Blessed Gun.

There are two different kinds of Ammo pickup, regular (green) and spreadETG (red).

Effects

Ammo boxes restore ammunition to the player's guns when collected, with how much ammo is restored depending on the type of ammo box. Regular green ammo boxes fully replenish the ammo counter of the players current gun. Spread ammo boxesETG only restore 50% of the current guns ammunition, however, they also restore 20% of the ammo of all other guns in the players inventory.

  • ETG The amount of ammo restored by spread ammo boxes is rounded up to the nearest whole integer. For instance, the Charge Shot.png Charge Shot has a maximum of 75 ammo. 50% of 75 is 37.5, meaning that a spread ammo box will restore 38 ammo to the Charge Shot when collected directly.
  • ETG in co-op mode, if one player collects a spread ammo pickup, all guns in the other players inventory will also have 20% of their ammo restored.

How to Acquire

Enter the Gungeon

Ammo pickups can be acquired in a number of ways;

  • The Shop will sometimes stock regular ammo boxes for sale.
  • Both regular and spread ammo boxes can be dropped as a reward when a room is cleared or a boss is killed.
  • Secret Rooms and Mini-Reward Rooms may sometimes contain either type of ammo box.
  • The Dog and Knight's Gun can occasionally dig up an ammo box.
  • Two ammo boxes always appear in the area before the Resourceful Rats boss fight.
  • Ammo boxes are among the reward loot placed on pedestals in the area after the Resourceful Rats boss fight.
  • The Supply Drop.png Supply Drop calls down a single regular ammo box in a supply crate.

Exit the Gungeon

Ammo Pickups appear solely in the Shop, if Arsenal Mode is enabled.

Other Appearances

  • The Black Powder Mine elevator on the Marines Route consists of a horizontal platform ferrying supply crates through the mines. One of these crates appears to be a gigantic ammo box.
  • The Resourceful Rats throne appears to be made of stolen ammo boxes.
  • One of the orbtial bullet-blockers that can be created by the Synergy.png Synthetic Shield synergy is a grey-scaled ammo box.
  • An ammo box appears briefly as a background detail in the animated launch trailer for Enter the Gungeon.

Notes

  • ETG Regular ammo pickups have existed in Enter the Gungeon since the release of the game, however spread ammo pickups were implemented in the Advanced Gungeons and Draguns Update.
  • ETG Both kinds of ammo pickup will be stolen by the Resourceful Rat.
    • The exception to this is ammo pickups that are placed as part of floor generation, such as those in Secret Rooms. These pickups will never be stolen by the Resourceful Rat, even if the player enters and leaves the room.
