Monster Blood is a passive item in Enter the Gungeon.
Effects
- Taking damage spawns a pool of poison goop.
- Grants immunity to poison.
- Grants a heart container.
Synergies ETG
Deadly Distraction - If the player also has Decoy, the Decoy creates a large poison pool when attacked.
Deadlier Distraction - If the player also has Explosive Decoy, the Explosive Decoy explodes and creates a large poison pool when attacked.
Monster Grub - If the player also has Shotgrub, Shotgrub's bullets will home in on enemies.
Natural Selection - If the player also has Evolver, it evolves after every 3 unique enemy types killed instead of 5.
Pandemic Pistol - If the player also has Plague Pistol, the pistol turns into the Pandemic Pistol, turning red with an increased ammo capacity, and its bullets become linked like VertebraeK-47's bullets.
Venom Veins - If the player also has Mutation, Mutation will poison enemies damaged by it.
Cut Content
- Prior to the Supply Drop Update, Monster Blood did not grant a heart container and had a different sprite.
- In pre-release versions of Enter the Gungeon, Monster Blood was known (likely in error) as Secret of the Ooze.[1] Secret of the Ooze is the designation of Bug Boots in the ETG string database, as well as the name of a different item in these early versions. Why these two items shared a name at one point is unknown.
Notes
- Like all heart container items, The Robot will receive 5 to 10
instead. - On the Switch version, and Windows 10 Steam version, the accented characters in the Ammonomicon entry won't show up, instead reading "Mdecins Sans Diplme".
- This item is a reference to the book Monster Blood, the third title in the original Goosebumps series, written by R. L. Stine. In the books, Monster Blood came in a twist-to-open can.
- "Médecins Sans Diplôme" is French for "Doctors Without Diplomas", and is a reference to Médecins Sans Frontières, the global humanitarian organization born in France and known in English as Doctors Without Borders.
