A horrifying tentacle, cloven from some abyssal fiend.

It moves in very disquieting ways.

Abyssal Tentacle is a gun that appears in Enter the Gungeon and Exit the Gungeon. It fires a tentacle which homes in on and grips enemies, ignoring obstacles.

Item Interactions

  • Backup Gun.png Backup Gun - A second tentacle is fired behind the player, latching onto enemies of its own accord and essentially doubling damage output.
  • Ring of Triggers.png Ring of Triggers - Using an active item causes a great number of tentacles to erupt in all directions, latching onto enemies and clearing entire rooms extremely quickly.
    • While effective on bosses, it is even more powerful against mini-bosses as they have no damage cap.

Notes

  • The tentacle can grip enemies through walls.
  • The tentacle can damage disappearing bosses like Cannonbalrog and High Priest if they are connected and kept while vanished.
  • This gun is a reference to the character "Purple Tentacle" — a sentient, disembodied tentacle with plans for world domination — from the LucasArts game Day of the Tentacle.
  • The Synergy.png Decoy Octorok synergy is a reference to the Metal Gear Solid character, Decoy Octopus and the purple, tentacled Legend of Zelda enemies of the same name.
    • It is also a reference to Dave Crooks, one of Enter the Gungeon's developers, whose handle is DecoyOctorok.
  • The gun could also be a reference to the classic MMORPG RuneScape, where the Abyssal Tentacle is a power whip-like weapon.
  • The Synergy.png Cosmic Horror synergy is a reference to the Lovecraftian Horror genre, which is also sometimes called "Cosmic Horror." Cosmic horror deals with malevolent, godlike aliens affecting our reality in various unpleasant ways, including tentacles coming out of black holes.
