Guns And Deviltry.
The Winchester Rifle was used to famous effect by Frifle during his first adventures with the Grey Mauser. It might be a bit dated, but still packs quite the punch.

Winchester Rifle is a gun that appears in Enter the Gungeon.

Notes

  • The Winchester Rifle appears to be based off the real world Winchester Model 1866, the first 'Winchester Rifle' created by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. This gun was known for its distinctive yellow receiver, made of a bronze-brass alloy which earned it the nickname Yellow Boy.
  • Although classified as semi-automatic, the Winchester Rifle is functionally automatic, as its rate of fire does not benefit from tapping the fire button instead of holding it down.
  • The Ammonomicon description "Guns and Deviltry" is a direct reference to Swords and Deviltry, the first collected volume of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser short stories. Both Frifle (the former owner of this gun) and the Grey Mauser are references to Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser.
  • Like the Sawed-Off.png Sawed-Off, the animations of the Winchester Rifle are physically inconsistent, with empty casings being ejected both on reload and the chambering of each new round.
  • The Winchester Rifle does not appear in Exit the Gungeon, however it still exists in the assets and text string database of the game. Like all real-world guns in Exit the Gungeon, the unused Winchester Rifle has a different name in the Apple Arcade string database, where it is called the Repeating Rifle.
