| Shoots sharks. Really.
This gun, a Calx original, fires homing sharks. This would never function under normal circumstances, but the Gungeon respects the pure audacity of its existence. | |
Compressed Air Tank is a gun that appears in Enter the Gungeon and Exit the Gungeon. It also makes a brief cameo appearance in the Digital Comic.
Effects
Charges to fire a shark that swims around under the floor, seeking out enemies and chomping down on them to deal a large amount of damage. Despite being a charged gun, the charge time for the Compressed Air Tank is extremely short, allowing the gun to be tap-fired.
- Sharks leave water goop as they travel. Sharks fired into invalid places, such as directly into walls, will immediately disappear, leaving a large circular puddle of water behind.
- Sharks trigger a different animation depending on if they kill their target. If the shark kills its prey, it will erupt from the floor and swallow the enemy whole. Enemies are stunned and cannot attack while being swallowed.
- Enemies that fire bullets upon death will not do so when swallowed whole by a shark. Examples include most varieties of Shotgun Kin, and Bloodbulons.
- Enemies that explode upon death will not do so when swallowed whole by a shark, including Pinheads and Nitra.
- Sharks will not swim over pits, with the exception of pits in boss rooms. This is likely to allow the sharks to hit bosses which sit in pits, such as the High Dragun.
- Sharks that are fired while over a pit will be able to swim over pits until they reach land again, at which point they will again refuse to travel over pits.
Synergies ETG
Smile, you son of a... - If the player has M1, Compressed Air Tank's sharks will explode upon biting an enemy. These explosions will hurt the player.
Item Interactions
Battery Bullets - The water left behind by fired sharks is automatically electrified, dealing considerable indirect damage to enemies.
Ghost Bullets - Sharks will not pierce enemies, regardless of how many piercing effects the player has.
Snowballets - The meandering swimming behaviour of the Sharks allows them to build up considerable damage.
Backup Gun - The enemy tracking ability of Sharks makes the direction of the additional shark added by Backup Gun irrelevant, as it will hunt down enemies regardless.
Cut Content
- In pre-release versions of Enter the Gungeon, the Compressed Air Tank had only 10 max ammo.[1]
Notes
- Despite sharks disabling the on-death effects of some enemies, enemies will still drop any loot assigned to them. Enemies that split into other enemies such as Blobulons, Poisbulons, and King Bullats will still split when eaten by a shark.
- Although this gun fires water, it cannot be used to get the item from the Black Market.
- This weapon and its unique ability are a reference to the 1975 movie Jaws. It also makes a brief sound resembling the Jaws theme whenever it fires.
- The "Smile you son of a..." synergy is a reference to Martin Brody's final line in Jaws before killing the shark. Brody wields a M1 and shoots an air tank in its mouth.
- It could also be a reference to the Land Shark Gun from the game Armed and Dangerous which behave the same way.
- Enemies that are in the process of being swallowed by a shark can still take knockback from things such as Blanks. Even if knocked out of the mouth of the shark, they will be killed regardless.
