Armor is a pickup that appears in Enter the Gungeon and Exit the Gungeon.
Effect
When collected, armor is appended to the end of the players heart containers, serving to shield their healthbar. Each piece of armor can absorb a single hit, after which it is destroyed.
- When a piece of armor is destroyed, a blank effect is triggered. This has all the effects of a regular blank, including opening secret rooms.
- All damage blocked by armor only destroys a single piece. For instance, jammed bullets (which usually deal two points of damage) still only destroy one armor.
- There is no limit to how much armor can be held at once.
How to Acquire
- The Marine starts each run with a single piece of armor.
- The Robot starts each run with six pieces of armour, substituting a normal health bar.
- Random room clear and boss kill reward pickups have a chance to be a piece of Armor.
- The Shop will sometimes stock pieces of armor for sale. The BlacksmithETG and Old Red may also occasionally have armor for sale.
- Chance KinETG will sometimes drop a piece of armour when killed.
- ETG Secret Rooms and Mini-Reward Rooms may sometimes contain armor.
- ETG The 'Shielded' effect of the Chance Shrine gives 1-3 pieces of armor.
- ETG Brown chests can somtimes give a piece of armor in addition to, or instead of, an item or gun.

Notes
- Armor pieces have a unique icon on the map, showing up as
- The Robot cannot have regular heart containers, and as such its entire health consists of armor.
- ETG Armor pickups left unattended will be stolen by the Resourceful Rat.
- The exception to this is armor pickups that are placed as part of floor generation, such as those in Secret Rooms. These pickups will never be stolen by the Resourceful Rat, even if the player enters and leaves the room.
- Armor, like other pickups, can be carried over in the the pasts of various Gungeoneers, offering a considerable advantage if the player is able to amass a significant amount.
- Armor does not carry over into the Pilots past however, as the ship is technically considered a different player character and the act of switching characters resets the players held armor.
- Armor carrying over to The Past is the result of a developer oversight, but has intentionally not been patched.[2]
