Barely a gun at all, but a very, very special lute. Or so were[sic] told. Seems to get out of tune when blue fire is around. | |
Really Special Lute is a gun in Enter the Gungeon.
Effects
- Fires a spread of 7 musical note bullets that each have an 8.5% chance to charm enemies for 6 seconds.
- While firing, buffs the players companions- doubling their damage.
- This companion buff does not apply to most melee attacks, such as those of the
Wolf or
Ser Junkan.
- This companion buff does not apply to most melee attacks, such as those of the
- Plays a unique song while fired.
Synergies ETG
Three Part Harmony - If the player also has Metronome, the gun's spread is drastically decreased.
Item Interactions
Duct Tape - As the effect of the Really Special Lute is tied to the gun itself, if the lute is duct taped onto another gun it will no longer buff the players companions.
Battle Standard - The companion damage buff from firing the lute stacks with the companion damage buff of the Battle Standard in most cases.
Chicken Flute - While the lute is held, the number of hits the chicken companion has to take in order to summon a chicken swarm is halved. Unlike other companion effects of the lute, the lute does not need to actually be playing for this to be in effect.[1]
- Playing the lute on its own has no effect on the damage of the chicken swarm.
Battle Standard +
Chicken Flute - If the lute is held while the player also has the battle standard in their inventory, the damage of the chicken swarm summoned by the chicken flute is increased by 80%.[2]
Notes
- This gun is completely unaffected by accuracy increasing items, such as
Muscle Relaxant. - This gun’s description is a reference to Patrick Rothfuss’s Kingkiller Chronicle book series. The main character, Kvothe, plays the lute, and searches throughout the series for a way to defeat the Chandrian, a magical group that cause flames to turn blue when they are near.
- The
Three Part Harmony synergy may be a reference to the Kingkiller Chronicle, as the main character at one point performs once a difficult ballad requiring them to play three melodies at once : two from the lute and one by singing. - This guns ability to buff companions is likely a reference to the Bard class in Dungeons & Dragons, and their ability to give allies inspiration.
- In the final scene of The Bullet's past, a Coaler can be seen holding the lute.
- This is notable, as the Bullets Past was added in the Supply Drop Update, while the Lute was only properly added in the Farewell To Arms Update.
- The Really Special Lute existed as an unfinished, unobtainable weapon in Enter the Gungeon for years prior to its inclusion in the Farewell To Arms Update. This unused version of the Lute was a clone of the
Face Melter, and behaved identically. - The song played by the Really Special Lute was composed by Dodge Roll sound designer Erica Hampson.[3] The name of the song is unknown.
