Orbital Bullets is a passive item and a bullet upgrade in Enter the Gungeon.
Effects
- The players bullets, after hitting a wall or obstacle, will instantly return to the player and begin to orbit around them for 15 seconds. These orbiting bullets retain all of their special effects.
- Bullets orbit at a random distance from the player, between 2 and 5 tiles.
- Orbiting bullets no longer collide with walls, but can still collide with enemies and other world objects like doors and chests.
- Only 20 bullets can be in orbit around the player at any time. If this limit is reached, new projectiles will bounce instead of orbiting the player after hitting a wall.
- After the 15 seconds of their orbital lifespan has elapsed, projectiles will fly off of their defined orbit in the direction they were last traveling around the player. These projectiles still do not collide with walls, even after being released from their orbit.
- The players beams will start a set distance away from the barrel of their gun, and loop around them once in a perfect circle before traveling straight forward.
- Beams that usually bend and wiggle, such as
Mega Douser or
Plunger, will no longer bend.
- If multiple beams are fired at once, each additional beam will begin its circling at a slightly further radius from the player, creating multiple concentric beam circles.
- Beams that usually bend and wiggle, such as
Synergies ETG
Battle Mode - If the player has Bomb or Ice Bomb, three orbiting bombs will appear around the player. These bombs block enemy projectiles, and explode upon contact with enemies dealing 40 damage. Exploded bomb orbitals will reappear after 5 seconds.
Orrery - if the player has Mr. Accretion Jr., it causes the planets fired by the gun to have smaller bullets orbiting them like moons; these bullets persist when the missed shots start orbiting the player. Each planet only has 1 "moon" bullet, regardless of how many moons the corresponding planet has in real life.
Item Interactions
Like most bullet modifiers, this effect also applies to projectiles fired by Companions.
Helix Bullets - Instead of orbiting in smooth circles, projectiles will instead follow a rotating elliptical orbit. Instead of traveling in perfect circles around the player, beams will form rotating overlapping shapes with a number of hills and valleys- merging the orbital and helical patterns together.
- This interaction only applies to helix projectiles from Helix Bullets. Bullets from the
Helix will orbit in perfect circles like most other guns.

Camera /
Life Orb /
Abyssal Tentacle /
Raiden Coil /
Evolver (Form 5) - Orbital bullets has no effect on these weapons.
Homing Bullets /
Crutch /
Stone Dome /
Zorgun /
Balloon Gun /
The Predator /
Gunslinger's Ashes /
Skull Spitter - Homing projectiles will not home towards enemies while orbiting the player. They will resume homing behaviour after being released from their orbit.
Com4nd0 /
Yari Launcher - Projectiles from these guns behave similarly, but will not resume homing after their orbit period finishes.
Homing Bullets /
Crutch /
Proton Backpack - Completely removes all homing effects from beams.
Bouncy Bullets - Projectiles will orbit after the first time they hit a wall or obstacle, and will not wait until their possible bounces are expended. Additionally, if a projectile with unspent bounces hits an obstacle (but not a wall) while orbiting, it will reset its orbital position, and re-randomise its orbital radius.
Bee Hive /
Stinger /
Bumbullets - Instead of orbiting the player in smooth, well defined circles, orbiting bees will loosely swarm around the player in a disordered cluster.
Snowballets - Bullets will continue to grow and gain damage while orbiting around the player, until reaching their maximum 2.5x damage after 50 tiles traveled.
Prize Pistol - Bullets fired by the Prize Pistol will not orbit the player, allowing them to safely play Winchesters game without dropping the item.
Casey /
Boxing Glove /
Heck Blaster /
Laser Rifle /
3rd Party Controller /
Alien Engine - Bullets fired by these guns are invisible, but will still orbit the player if they hit a wall.
Serious Cannon - The high damage-per-shot of the Serious Cannon coupled with the fact that it pierces through multiple enemies makes its cannonballs powerful orbitals which can be used to clear whole rooms on their own.
Makeshift Cannon - Putting Makeshift Cannon projectiles into orbit allows them to linger significantly longer and hit the same boss multiple times, quickly killing even late-game bosses with a single shot.
Eye of the Beholster /
Gunslinger's Ashes - Projectiles from these guns will still shoot at enemies while in orbit around the player.
Casey - Enemy bullets deflected by Casey will orbit the player if they impact a wall or obstacle. These bullets cannot harm the player.
Mimic Gun - Bullets from the mimic gun will still jam nearby enemy bullets while orbiting the player, which can be extremely dangerous.
Finished Gun - The final shot of the Finished Gun will still reflect enemy projectiles while in orbit around the player, creating a temporary but extremely powerful defensive orbital.
Battle Mode + Companions - Orbital bombs created by the Battle Mode synergy will explode upon touching most companions. This can result in unexpected explosions pushing the player around at inopportune moments.
Bug
Gunzheng - If arrows from the Gunzheng reach the end of their range while still in orbit, they will still count towards the orbital projectile cap, even though they have been destroyed. This permanently lowers the maximum number of possible orbiting bullets, potentially preventing them entirely if 20 Gunzheng arrows are allowed to despawn in orbit.
- This effect lingers until the player restarts the game. Entering a new chamber or starting a new run does not reset it.
Notes
- Orbiting bullets can still destroy chests. Care should be taken when entering chest rooms if any orbiting bullets are still present.
- Orbiting bullets do not reveal secret rooms, even if they came from a weapon that could.
Possible Bug In Challenge Mode, if the
Unfriendly Fire modifier is active, missed bullets will still orbit the player but will also become enemy bullets. Sometimes, this will cause an orbiting bullet to orbit so closely to the player that it instantly deals damage.
