Fossilized bullets containing the DNA of some forgotten Gungeon creature.
Helix Bullets is a passive item and a bullet upgrade in Enter the Gungeon.
Effects
- Doubles the player's bullets and causes them to travel through the air in a helical pattern.
- Each bullet deals 66% of its original damage, for a net 32% increase in damage if both bullets hit their target.
- Doubles fired beams. Beams will also travel in progressing helical wave patterns.
Synergies ETG
Double Double Helix - If the player also has Helix, instead of the Helix Bullets effect being applied to each bullet, Helix's projectiles will be doubled (2 bullets will fire on each side while following the original pattern), damage is increased by 25%, and shot speed is increased by 50%.
Dualing Pistol - If the player also has Dueling Pistol, it gains homing and changes appearance.
One Fish Two Fish - If the player also has Barrel, Barrel will fire a red fish that sets enemies on fire and a normal blue fish.
Item Interactions
Orbital Bullets - Instead of orbiting in smooth circles, projectiles will instead follow a rotating elliptical orbit. Instead of traveling in perfect circles around the player, beams will form rotating overlapping shapes with a number of hills and valleys- merging the orbital and helical patterns together.

Gunslinger's Ashes /
Skull Spitter - The homing ability of projectiles is not overridden, but is significantly weakened by Helix Bullets.
Bouncy Bullets - The oscillating direction of helical shots causes them to bounce in unpredictable directions.
Prize Pistol - This makes Winchesters game extremely difficult to win.
Shadow Bullets - Additional shadow projectiles will not be doubled, or given a helical motion.
Bullet Bore - Helix Bullets will override the homing and enemy boring effect of Bullet Bore.
Zorgun - The final shot of the Zorgun will have helical motion applied, but will not be duplicated.
Casey - Bullets reflected by Casey will not be duplicated, but will move in a helical pattern.
Hip Holster - The projectile fired on reloading a gun is given helical motion, but is not duplicated.
Roll Bomb - Rolling will drop two bombs instead of one. Instead of bouncing across the ground, bombs will travel in a short helical arc.
Black Hole Gun /
Singularity - Helix projectiles are not affected by the gravitational pull of black holes, making it far easier to attack enemies while a black hole is active.
Dark Marker - The charged projectiles of Dark Marker are unaffected by Helix Bullets.
Antichamber - Each regular shot of the Dark Marker will fire one matter projectile and one antimatter projectile in a helical pattern. However, these projectiles move considerably faster than normal, and do not tend to collide, making the Antichamber synergy almost useless.
Possible Bug
High Kaliber - After converting into soul form, projectiles from the High Kaliber will fly towards the player and stop in front of them, before continuing their initial trajectory. This makes the souls extremely easy to step on.
Scattershot /
Table Tech Sight /
Double Vision /
Backup Gun - Helix Bullets stacks with other items that multiply the players number of projectiles, for example firing four projectiles per 1 original shot while Double Vision is active.
Possible Bug
Scattershot - Scattershot interacts uniquely with Helix Bullets depending on which item was picked up first. If Scattershot was picked up before Helix Bullets, the player will fire 4 projectiles per 1 original shot. If Helix Bullets was picked up before Scattershot, the player will fire 6 projectiles per 1 original shot.
- This interaction can be manually arranged by dropping and picking back up Helix Bullets and Scattershot in the desired order.
- The projectiles of most Companions are given a helical motion, but are not duplicated.
Notes
- Explosion damage will not be affected by damage modifiers, including damage reduction. As such, Helix Bullets will massively buff explosive weapons.
- When used on a gun with non-zero bullet spread, each shots angle variance will be mirrored between the two helix projectiles.
- When used by a gun that fires several different kinds of shots at random, such as Mr. Accretion Jr. or Tetrominator, each bullet of the helix will be randomly selected.
- This item's appearance is a reference to the original Pokémon games, offered to the player as one fossil, "the Helix Fossil", among a choice of two. The other, "the Dome Fossil", does not appear to be referenced in game.
- The pickup text is a reference to the cult-like following the item acquired during a collaborative stream of these games, called "Twitch Plays Pokémon," where viewers/collaborators would often quote "praise helix" as the player, who was controlled by Twitch chat, would often unsuccessfully attempt to “use” the Helix Fossil.
- The Barrel synergy is a reference to the Dr. Seuss childrens book, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.
