Minelets take cover under their hard hat to prepare for a quick burst of gunfire.
The only form of Gundead that can grow hardy beards, which are the envy of their cousins. |
Minelets are Bullet Kin variants which appear in Enter the Gungeon and Exit the Gungeon.
Behaviour
Minelets behave like regular bullet kin, but will occasionally stop attacking and hide stationary underneath their mining helmets. While hidden, player projectiles that collide with them will ricochet off them harmlessly, dealing no damage. After two seconds of hiding the light on their helmet will begin to flash, before the Minelet pops up, releasing a ring of bullets in all directions.
After a Minelet emerges from hiding, there is a cooldown period of 8 seconds before it can hide again.
Laser Reflection
Bullets belonging to enemies will not collide with hiding Minelets. However, the same is not true of enemy lasers, which will be deflected at odd angles should they come into contact with a hidden Minelet. While this is technically true of all enemy lasers, such as those of the Beholster and Shelleton, it only occurs in vanilla with Det lasers.
Whether this laser reflection is intended behaviour or a glitch is unknown, but it does render Dets and Minelets more dangerous when paired together, as the ricocheting laser beams can be difficult to predict.
Notes
- Minelets hold the Magnum.
- Player bullets reflected by the Minelets helmet will not harm the player.
- The hiding behaviour of Minelets is a reference to Mets from the Mega Man series, which also hide underneath their helmets for protection and attack upon emerging.
- The animations for the Minelet hiding and emerging are called met in and met out respectively.
- The attack behaviour which controls Minelets hiding is called Go Met Mode internally.
- Minelets are slightly shorter than regular Bullet Kin. This, coupled with their pronounced facial hair and presence inside a mine is likely a reference to the depiction of dwarves in modern high fantasy stories, in particular the works of J. R. R. Tolkien.
- Possible Bug In Exit the Gungeon, Minelet is instead written as Minelets in the Diginomicon.
