Munchers
The Munchers are NPCs that appear in Enter the Gungeon. There are regular green Munchers and red Evil Munchers, which are emblazoned with a skull. Regular Munchers can appear at random in their own dedicated rooms throughout the Gungeon, while the Evil Muncher always appears in a secret room in Bullet Hell.
Both the Regular Muncher and Evil Muncher can appear in the Annex area of the Shop, however the Evil Muncher is extremely rare. Evil Munchers may also appear extremely rarely in secret rooms on any floor.[citation needed]
Function
Regular
The Muncher can be given two of the players guns to eat, and will spit out a new, fully loaded gun in exchange.
The quality of the given gun is chosen at random from the qualities of the two given guns, and any qualities in between. For example, if provided with a gun and an gun, the Muncher can provide a gun of , , or quality.
If neither of the given guns was , there is an additional 5% chance for the quality of the returned gun to be 1 tier higher than the highest tier gun given. For example, if provided with a gun and a gun, there is a 5% chance for the returned gun to be quality.
In addition to this, there are specific gun combinations which will always result in a certain output, known as Muncher Recipes.
If one gun from the first column and one gun from the second column are consumed, the result will always be the gun from the third column.
Evil
The Evil Muncher can also be fed guns, however it requires many more to be satiated. Initially, the Evil Muncher must be fed 10 guns, after which it will spit out Gunslinger's Ashes, and unlock the gun permanently. After this, when encountered on subsequent runs, the Evil Muncher will require a random number of guns to be fed to it, after which it will drop a random gun that has a 75% chance to be quality and a 25% chance to be quality.
The Evil Muncher will remember the number of guns that has been fed to it between runs, meaning that the guns for Gunslinger's Ashes can be provided over the course of multiple runs and game sessions.
Notes
- Guns with infinite ammo such as starting guns, Gunther, Casey, and Dueling Laser cannot be fed to Munchers.
- Both the regular and evil Munchers function correctly in Rainbow Mode.
- A popped Balloon Gun and a shattered Glass Cannon can not be fed to the muncher
- Feeding a Duct Taped gun to the Muncher will consume both guns but only count one of them.
- The current known record for most guns the evil muncher has taken in 1 run is 34.
